Petrol Pump Daily Hisab: Paper Register vs App

पेट्रोल पंप का रोज़ का हिसाब — रजिस्टर से या मोबाइल ऐप से?

5 min read ·

Petrol pump daily hisab comes down to one check per nozzle: Fuel Sold = Closing − Opening − Test litres, Expected = Fuel Sold × rate, and Collected = Cash + Online + Pending Dues. If Expected and Collected match, the shift is settled. You can do this in a paper register or in a phone app. The math is the same. The difference is how much time it takes and how many mistakes slip in.

The daily hisab, step by step

  1. At handover time (for example 10:00 AM IST), take the closing reading of every nozzle.
  2. Subtract the opening reading (the last shift's closing) and any 5-litre test litres.
  3. Multiply fuel sold by the rate. If the rate changed mid-shift, split it.
  4. Count the cash. Add online (UPI/card) payments and pending dues (udhar).
  5. Find the difference for each nozzle and ask the operator about any shortage.
  6. Note refills and other expenses separately. Expenses are not part of the shift difference.
  7. Start the next shift with the new operators.
Fuel Sold = Closing − Opening − Test litres
Expected = Fuel Sold × Rate
Collected = Cash + Online + Pending Dues
Difference = Expected − Collected   (≈ 0 → Settled)

For the tricky parts, see the 5-litre test guide and what to do when the rate changes during a shift.

To be fair to paper: it needs no internet and no phone. The app needs a working internet connection to enter data. If your pump has no mobile signal at all, that matters.

What closing a shift looks like in the app

You go one dispenser at a time. For each one you type the closing readings, add any tests and type the cash. Online payments and Pending Due entries that staff added during the shift are already listed. Then you see a summary of every nozzle: fuel sold, expected, collected, difference and the operator. Each nozzle shows Settled or Short by Rs.X. Finally you start the next shift and pick the operators.

The app also keeps a refills log (date, fuel, tank, litres, amount) and other expenses. It runs in any phone browser and you can add it to your home screen like a normal app. Full details are on the features page and how it works.

What it costs

The first month is free and you do not need to pay anything to start. After that it is a monthly plan, and the price is shared on WhatsApp. See pricing or the FAQ.
